Hello from Bunker Hills up in Coon Rapids - one of my favorite Twin Cities golf courses. I've played these 27 holes a lot in the last 10 years, and for some reason I keep coming back. I never play well here (if my college roommate is reading this, he'll gladly attest) but it's a good test. I wonder how many of my golf balls are still out here somewhere ... as wayward as I've been off the tee here I'll bet some were never found.
Anyway, nothing like that today among our leaders in girls' Class 3A state golf action. After 18 holes of the two-day event, New Prague (330)has a three shot lead over Stillwater. Edina is four back while Grand Rapids is in with a 339. Eastview (345), Alexandria (348), Irondale (363) and Northfield (375) round out the team scores.
As for the individuals, defending champion Betsy Kelly ofForest Lakefired an even par 73 and has a one-shot lead over Alexandria's Maggie Leland and Sara Detlefsen of Eastview. Sisters Steffi and McKenzie Neisen each shot 75s today to lead the Trojans.
The boys have all teed off, but they goton the course about a half-hour late this afternoon. So we're still a ways from any news on that front. But the good news is that here in the restaurant area (where I'm getting a weak but useable wireless signal), the television is showing local radar and it looks like all the nasty stuff is north and east of here. It's humid, but we should be in the clear to get this thing in today entirely.
