The meeting has ended. The headline isprobably the discussion about changing the state basketball tournaments.The possibility ofshifting the Prep Bowl also is intriguing.

The board is discussingchanging the format of the state basketball tournaments for boys and girls. The main point of discussion is moving state quarterfinals -- currently played on Wednesday or Thursday -- to the previous Saturday. This may allow for more people to attend the games and for students to miss less school.
The plan (although this is so preliminary that it's not fair to call it a "plan") would mean four teams in each class would return to the Twin Cities for the state semifinals and championship games.
It's a work in progress. It could not be implemented before the 2011--12 season.
