
This one slipped past everybody, but here's the news: earlier this month the Apple Valley wrestling team broke the state record for consecutive dual meet victories.
From 1967 to 1974, Caledonia won 83 consecutive dual meet matches to set the record. On Jan. 9at The Clashin Rochester, Apple Valley tied the record by defeating Wisconsin Rapids for its 83 rd consecutive win. The Eagles went on to set the record in the championship round by defeating Montini Catholic of Illinois.Montini Catholic is the last team to beat the Eagles,a 34-29 decisionon Jan.5, 2008, also at The Clash.
To date, the Eagles have won 92 straight dual meet matches. They look to continue the streak this weekend with a match against Rosemount and a team tournament in Forest Lake.
